Flamini calms injury fears

Mathieu Flamini has given Arsenal a real fitness fillip by revealing that an injury picked up on international duty on Tuesday night is not serious.

The Gunners midfielder was forced off after just 15 minutes as a France reserve side took on DR Congo in Marbella.

Fears were immediately heightened that the problem could have an adverse impact on Arsenal’s title challenge but Flamini believes he could even be fit to play in Monday night’s game against Blackburn Rovers.

“It is just a little tight spot behind the right thigh,” Flamini said. “It is nothing serious, I hope I’ll be ready for Blackburn.”

Flamini has been in excellent form for the North London side this season, taking on a destructive role in midfield to free up the talented Cesc Fabregas.
